Field Operations Division
Youth Services Section
The Youth Services Section of the Field Operations Division, in conjunction with the Fayette County Board of Education, provides on-site law enforcement services at a number of Fayette County Middle and High Schools. The faculty and students of Flat Rock Middle School, Sandy Creek High School, Whitewater Middle School, Whitewater High School, Rising Star Middle School, and Starr's Mill High School each benefit from the presence of one of our School Resource Officer (SRO) certified Deputy Sheriffs.
In addition to providing School Resource Officers at many of our community's middle and high schools, the Youth Services Section also presents the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program to the majority of Fayette County's elementary school 5th grade students.
In 2010, the Youth Services Section began presenting the Parents Reducing Injury and Driver Error (P.R.I.D.E.) Program. This program involves pairing parents and their children/teen drivers in a structured environment where both parents and their children learn strategies for becoming better and more accomplished drivers. Driver Safety organizations universally agree that the primary cause of death and serious injury to individuals under the age of 25 is motor vehicle crashes. The P.R.I.D.E. Program and the Youth Services Section are committed to reducing the chances of death or serious injury to drivers under the age of 25.
The Youth Services Section is commanded by Captain Deborah Hannah. Captain Hannah is a more than 25 year law enforcement veteran of which more than 20 years has been in service with the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. Captain Hannah and the entire Youth Services Section are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for our community's students to learn and prepare for the rest of their lives.
