Bullying has been in existence since the days of the one-room school house. Bullying can be name-calling, ganging up on victims, intimidation, and sometimes physical contact. However, over the years bullying has evolved from school yard occurrences into cyberspace. Cyber-bullying creates no escape for victims and the bullying often continues into the victim’s own home.
Fayette County has not escaped bullying. However, in a partnership between the Fayette County Board of Education and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, proactive steps have been made to combat the bullying problem. Students are provided lessons on anti-bullying/cyber-bullying in the school and parents are offered the opportunity to take part in community forums. Additionally, resources and guidance are provided for students in the schools. If you would like more information on bullying or cyber-bullying please visit some of the websites below.
